BP portrait

I just finished this portrait of a very good friend of ours. It isn't a commission. I painted it to enter it in the BP Portrait Award competition. I still have a few weeks before it goes to London.

I know it is a bit different and probably not everybody's taste, but I wanted to do something different, and the sitter has such a nice jaw line, that I decided just to paint his face.

Size 39 x 59 inch.

Nice modeling! Even though it's not a typical portrait, the modeling is handled so well that it looks realistic. You have a good foundation in facial structure. Nice clean colors while avoiding the overwhelming urge to blend
