How to price and how to reach those people willing to pay that price.

Hi,

I don't consider myself a strict portrait painter but I do enjoy painting people just for myself, and have been asked to quote prices for doing portrait work. What benchmarks do you use to guage an appropriate price for a portrait painting?.......Or any other type of painting? I've just started being represented in a gallery in Vancouver and did a lot of research to find a base pricing system for myself.......I went pretty low compared to similar styled painters just to get my foot in the door.
How do you find your target patrons for portraiture?

Thanks!
Jason

Take a look at the artists on the SOG main site and see what their prices are. Your work is excellent so don't be shy about asking what it's really worth.
