A joy to paint

This is Ricky. He was a joy to paint .
This was done in two sittings and for me it all just seem to click.
He really was a great model.
Once again, please tell me what you think .

Thanks,
Rick.

This painting is amazing, Richard. I see nothing that needs to be altered. The composition is unusual, innovative, pleasing. Shadows, edges are good. The subject's attitude is wonderful.

Hi Richard,

I also love the composition, including the angle we're viewing him from, and his confident, direct gaze. You did this from life in two sittings, that's amazing. One thing I see is that the painting is overall very warm. I think it would benefit from some cool touches in the background. The reflected light on his chin is a little too bright. Lightening the tip of his nose a little would help bring it forward a little more. The part of his hands in the light have a bit of a greenish cast that doesn't match is facial coloring. Very nice.

Holly
