Erin

Hi. This is 'Erin', 14x18", graphite with white charcoal on fawn colored Stonehenge. I used the darker or more saturated side of the paper and it worked very well. I had been using the lighter side because it was smoother, but it did'nt feel different while I worked. This may be the best pic I've uploaded as far as accuracy with color of paper and contrast, still not the right texture, but getting there.

She is fabulous Jimmie! Wonderful - the way you used this as a horizontal.

The way you draw women - it's with a real appreciation and admiration. Each one looks honest and real, and ever so sexy - no matter their size, shape, etc. You have a way of making me think you find each and every person you draw very, very attractive - and making me (the viewer) see how attractive they are as well.

Jimmie,

Ditto what Kim said. You drew her beatifully. I like the "angelique" halo and her wise but sad expression.

I feel like I know her; that's probably the best compliment I could give to any portrait. It's wonderful how such economy of means can be so expressive.

Jimmie-

What I really appreciate here is your subdued, yet effective use of the white. I love how it creates a beautiful triangulated design from the backlit "halo" to the fold highlights in the middle of her blouse. Perfect for a centralized, head-on portrait such as this one.

Also, n.b. all the comments from the wise women on this site... they love you, man! That is to say, they love the way in which you imbue your subjects with grace and femininity specific to their individuality. Not an easy thing by any stretch. And the fact that our female colleagues are picking that up so clearly... well! - that fact makes it safe to say you're getting it right!

Keep 'em comin', Jimmie. It gets better every time.

Rob

Rob- you are SO right. There is noone I'd trust more to portray my love handles. (of course, if I had any...I am not saying I do The way he portrays all the women he draws- is just a compliment to women everywhere.

Jimmie,
I have a sneaking suspicion I am not the only one saving my "mad" money and fantasizing about having my portrait done my Jimmie Arroyo, Artist of Women!!!!!

I agree with all of the comments already posted and this is now my new favorite.
