Tracy

This is day one with this pose. The model inspired us all to get up close and try to capture all the lovely planes of her head.

To be continued next Friday!

Your comments are much appreciated.

Jeanine, this portrait is really alive. It looks like you attacked the canvas. She must have a very strong personality! I like how vibrant it is.

Please keep in mind that I am not qualified to critique, as I consider myself a beginner, but I will mention one thing that I find distracting. The large purple expanse of her dress is so strong that I feel it detracts from her impressive face. When I stand back from the monitor, I see the purple first. As to how to change it, I am at a loss. Let's see how others feel, before you make any major changes.

I like the energy in this painting!

Jean

Wow, you're good! I'm so impressed with your talent. How long was this session?

The only thing that stands out to me is her right eye seems a little large in comparison to the other, but I know you are early with this one and probably see that. Her hair is the best!

Dear Jean and Patti:

Thank you for your kind replies! Yes, I did attack this canvas, inspired by the lecture Passantino gave on the muscles of the face prior to the model session. Paint time was 2 hours. I shall keep your valid observations in mind when I go back into this on Friday.

Final

Here she is after the second 2-1/2 hour session yesterday. We tried to get her to smile to which Tracy replied, "Did you hear the news this morning?"
