Painting on Denim?

I am amazed that such a painting made it to Sotheby's and is estimated at such a value. It makes me wonder what "taste and value" are heading toward in auction houses such as this.

I was pretty amazed myself. The artist must be pretty famous to command prices like that! I only posted it because it was a form of portrait art. I don't think you could ever wash a jacket with an oil painting on it! I guess, at that price, you wouldn't wear it anyway.
