Where to go from here?

Hello,

What an incredible site! I have been here a couple times reading the posts, especially in the critique section, and am so happy to be joining such a wonderfully talented and helpful group!

I am 25, and have been drawing for about 22 years, and painting for about 6. I received a B.F.A. in 2000 and was hoping to go to graduate school, but have yet to be accepted into any. I am starting to feel that the academic path is not the one life wants me to take, so I am searching for other options. My dream was to get a masters and become a professor of art. But of course my even bigger, and I thought less attainable, dream, is to be a professional artist. So here I am! Hopefully I'll find what I'm suppose to be doing SOON!

Just thought I'd attach what I'm working on, a colored pencil piece in progress. Hope you all like it!

Better with a pencil than with a computer is what I meant to say! I know I have a lot to learn still! By no means did I mean to make that sentence sound like that, but when I reread it I worried it sounded sooo bad! Anyway, hopefully this will be the last time I reply to my own post. Ha ha! Sooner or later I'll get this posting thing right! OK, all! Take care and happy portrait painting/drawing to all!

Welcome Carolyn! It is great to see another colored pencil artist on the Forum! The piece you posted is great. I can't wait to see the finished piece.

Having just found this site, it is incredible and the answer to a lot of my prayers! I am a caricaturist, and work in a lot of mediums I can get my hands on! The work here is very sharp, very crisp, and ideal for information.

Thank you for the awesome artwork displayed. I just hope that in future, I can learn how to show my own work through this contraption called the computer! (I am still a "dinosuar" when it comes to this new technology!) I hope to spend more time here in the future!
