Hi, taking the plunge

Hello,

My name is Mark Branscum and though I have been participating in various ways on this Forum, I hadn't yet put any of my work on here.

The reason for that was, I am working on having some....work that is. I now have my first piece, well first oil anyway. It can be found here http://forum.portraitartist.com/show...&threadid=1387

It is my first portrait, at least oil portrait, and I am looking forward to the tips I might get from the pros on here.

In the process of this painting I was about ready to wipe it clean several times but I kept on and I am glad I did, as the more I put paint on the canvas the happier I became with the results. For my first, I feel real good about it, and it gives me hope of what will come next.

I am working on building a portfollio now, at least its in the planning stages.

Well, that's all for now. Glad to be a part of such a wonderful field as portrait painting.

Mark

Hi Mark,

I am saying hello cause I noticed the "0" here, but you have quite a few responses to your artwork. I am always impressed with those who can work in oil. I always had the elementary problem that they never dried! Since I am a not a pro with the medium, I feel I can't comment, but think you have a real start! Good effort!

Hello to you too, and thank you for the kind words.

I looked at your site and I love your work. I have been considering pastels as well, in fact I am sure I will sooner or later get me a set so I can try my hand at them.

But first I wish to build a portfollio of oil work and then I will have a pastel section maybe.

You have a wonderful talent and looks to me you are on your way to reach your goals, I am sure.

At any rate, when I get into pastels, perhaps I will seek you out for some advice.

Happy painting,
Mark
