Movable Wall/Corner for Studio
Over the holidays I spent a few days working on a movable wall/corner for my studio. A friend gave me a number of hollow-core flat panel doors, which I glued together using construction adhesive. I also glued/screwed a 1" by 2" board along the top and bottom, and used standard hinges for the corners. The structure is very stable and fairly light, and it can be moved by two individuals.
As seen in the image, I wallpapered one side and screwed in some wide molding. The floor is actually a floating artitical (plastic) wood floor that looks remarkably similar to real wood.
I plan on using this setup/background for a new set of figuative paintings. It can be easily moved to obtain different shadows on the wall from the subject and props. I plan on reusing this setup many times, either covering over or removing this wallpaper or just using the other side. Maybe, I will even try generating a old-plaster surface . . . . I hope this is of interest to others.
