Joe, I really like the sureness and energy in these sketches. They are great! When I was a teenager my father tried to give me his old egg tempera, but it was all dried up, so he ended up buying me gouache. He kept saying "It's not the same at all!" but I remember liking it a lot (feeling a little guilty about admitting that to my father) and doing a couple of plein air landscapes. It seemed easy to work with outside, so I guess it's the same at an open studio. You've got me curious--maybe I'll try it again.
