I have watched as this has progressed and I think you have done a great job. There is a wonderful harmony throughout. The background and the subjects are well suited and executed. If I was forced to make a nitpick it would be the sky coming through the tree has created some hard edges which distract me somewhat. I bet the couple will be thrilled.

Dear Mike:

Thank you for your comments. I did soften the opening in bushes.

This painting took the People's Choice Award last weekend at CSOPA's first show. Faces of Summer

Afterwards, I delivered it with the ribbon to the shop where Sarah works. She actually cried with joy and said, "The painting is more beautiful than I am!"

I embraced her and assured her this is not the case. I merely painted what I saw in her and her handsome fiance'.

It was a very moving experience.

I agree with Mike. The sky hole in the tree distracted me from the figures. I think it needed to be broken or filled in some with smaller shapes. It is a beautiful painting. Now that you have delivered it and received the rave reviews from the clients (tears are always good, you know they truly love it), it makes all the pain and suffering go away. You are raring to start your next painting and solve your next set of problems.

This has a wonderful feel to it. I noticed the tree arch, but liked it. I like the way your eye moves around the painting. I like the happy clean feel that the background gives. I think the arch is good because it echoes the line of the ladies head. I like this painting very much. It's difficult to paint people in such a stiff pose, but you were successful at softening the final effect. Good job.

Thank you, Linda, and all of you for your time in commenting. It was my intent to generate some interest with the hedges in order to balance the intensity of my subjects with the background. The shape was less intentional other than its general direction pointing back to Sarah. I can see the echo of form now. Cool! I did soften but not eliminate the opening.
