Ilaria,
I ADORE this! What lovely fresh color and amazing control in the skin tones! Even though I've never met your son, I have a feeling you have absolutely caught his expression. I wish that, instead of the ubiquitous smile/grin, more artists would try to capture a look like this. I could sit here enjoying this painting for hours if I had nothing else to do.
Latin was one of my favorite subjects, too. I was hoping my kids would take Latin in school, but they both opted for French instead. I think they just couldn't believe Latin would be useful, but it is, every day.

He looks every bit the cherub, Ilaria! I agree with Alex re: the beautiful fresh skin tones. This would make a unique and special Christmas card. . . what a neat idea.

Ilaria,
I just love this little gem! The colors evoke a traditional italian fresco palette; I bet you intended that association.

Thank you Terri. I used a very limited palette and tried to keep skin colours on the cool side.
Thank you Garth, long time no see, I hope you are doing well.
I did indeed thought about frescos, somehow more to the nineteenth century ones rather than Renaissance.
Again this was a divertissment, I am glad you enjoyed.

How really beautiful, Ilaria.
It is an appealing face in a really original design.
Loved Latin, loved French! I tutored Latin but now all I can remember is "Omnia Gallia est divisa in tres partes", and that probably is wrong.
I think this a wonderful piece to have of one's child. You can gaze upon it fondly when he becomes a teenager.
Loved the ancestor painting too.
