Janel, I second the triptych. Not traditional, but it will get attention and win some awards, in all likelyhood. Lexie's a great model. Paint her horizontally in the order you've posted.  Check out some of Scott Bartner's very sincere portrait series, as an idea.
Seriously, even if you only use #1 as a reference, you are in great shape! I do sense the echo of Vermeer, if that's what you are suggesting.

The idea of a triptych just cracks me up. I go with Garth. Horizontal with 2 and 3 on the outside but have the eyes face the normal pose in the center. Just a caution. All three photos appear a little overexposed on my monitor.

Triptych
A triptych would be great! But I think it should be 1,2,3 and not 2,1,3.
It seems to me that it would be a funny psychological portrait.
