I just returned home from a week in AZ at the William Whitaker workshop held at the Scottsdale Artist's School.
Im exhausted! It was a great week, I learned so much I wouldnt even know where to begin. Once I plow through a mountain of laundry the kids left for me - I am racing to the studio to put into practice some of the things Bill taught me.
Anyone who has a chance to take his workshop should jump at the chance. He is not only a wonderful artist, but an incrediable teacher. He gives his ALL to the students. Im sure he is more exhausted than any of us students are. He is very very generous and seems to know what each students particular needs are.
He is also one heck of a great guy! I was lucky enough to get to meet he and his wife the night before the workshop. They are both charming and sweet. I enjoyed all the time I got to spend with both of them.
I also got to meet and hang out with Linda Brandon - thank you Linda! She is so wonderful, gracious and down-right fun to be with! Linda not only took care of me, but she hosted a great party at her impressive studio for all the workshop attendees. I got to see plenty of Linda's paintings and they were beautiful - it is terrific to see them in real life vs. the flat online images.
I also was lucky enough to meet several other folks I've only known online - Chris Saper, Andrea Cramner, Gary H, Tom Martinez, Richard Monroe and his wife (thank you for the Gallery tour!)...and more I am sure I am forgetting. It was not only a wonderful week of learning - but meeting artists as well. The only down side was that Chris is so cute, Im just not sure I can like her anymore.
For anyone interested, here is a link to a more in-depth conversation about things I learned in the workshop. It also includes plenty of teasing and jokes concerning Bill beating me up during the days.
