Posting Princess Dethroned
Thank you all. HOWEVER, I still have been unable to complete the posting of an image. Geary: I followed your directions until I got to "additional options" at the bottom of the page. No such animal. The bottom of which page? No such animal in either iPhoto or email on my computer.
Beth: I was able to follow all directions until your #5 direction: "Pixel Dimensions". Not there. Not anywhere.
Dang! Thought I had it with ease.
Any further help to untangle this nasty web of confusion would be wonderful!!!

Hi Carole,
I know this can be confusing at first. Sorry you're having so much difficulty. Stay with us here.
What we're doing is "multi-tasking". You can have two or more different applications going at once. I mention this because you can have "this page" open and your iPhoto AND an email page .....ALL at once....open.
Going back to the first thing in my list ....."starting with post reply" ...that means you hit the post reply button at the bottom of the forum page.
So, again....the bottom of "this" page means the SOG page ....it's the heading for managing attachments on the reply. Not the bottom of your iPhoto or the email page.
Hang in there. You're almost there!

Sorry for the confusion with #5 Carol, we must differ a bit.
If you just see the "inches" as illustrated below, perhaps you can change your measurements in preferances to be pixels.
However I found this wonderful site that might help you it is Jay Arraich's site tips:
http://www.arraich.com/elements/pse_ppreBeginner1.htm
The image is from his tutorial.
I hope you figure it out, Geary has really walked you throught the site stuff. Once it clicks, you'll never forget how to do it anywhere.
Good luck!

"If at first you don"t succeed..."
Dear Geary, Beth, Leslie and ...
Well, I still am not posting anything but words, words, words. Geary, I followed your directions and...
-dragged the photo to the desktop from iPhoto (and Photoshop2), then hit Post Reply on the SOG page, went to "additional options" and then to "Manage Attachments", to "Choose file", then to the desktop picture... clicked on the picture.
Your directions and Beth's said to hit "Upload". ??? Where do you see that? I see "Preview Post... Submit Reply", all the icons, etc. I assumed that the message is written before clicking on the picture from the desktop.
My attempt this morning (Teddy 1) shows in the "Oil Critiques" section minus the picture. Duhhh. I'll understand if you are tired of my questions, but I am determined to make this work. I just am missing a/some step(s) somewhere and am so appreciative of all the help. It seems that we are CONSTANTLY students, which, of course, is what makes painting so challenging and fun.

Once you have the image on your desktop, in the reply section under additional options hit Manage Attachments under Attach Files. Once the new window opens click on Choose File. A window will open allowing you to select the image from your desktop. Once you have that image file highlighted, click on Choose, which will appear in the frame. The Manage Attachments window will now show the file name under the File to Upload: Choose File section. Then you click on Upload and see a message saying Uploading File(s) - Please Wait. Once the file is uploaded you go back to Manage Attachments. You should see your file listed there with an option to remove it. You want to continue to the next phase where you see the usual Reply to Topic . Again you should see the file as an attachment. You no longer need to Manage Attachments; just click Submit Reply. Hope this helps!

Ah, hah...it's always the "assumption" part! LOL
You have to click on the choose for your picture for it to actually show up on the "manage attachments" menu.....as in the screen "grab" I illustrate for you here.
Not to worry, you are right THERE!

Carol,
Geary, Leslie and I are ready for the fireworks, you are very close.
Geary has shown the window you will see after you click the "Manage Attachments" button, which follows the icons in the "Additional Options" area. These are below the SpelChek, Submit Reply and Preview Post buttons when you bring up the Reply window.
You can do this! We are anxiously waiting. And cheering you on.
Don't forget to check out Cynthia's guidelines and tips too!
Cynthia's quidelines
I had to throw this in because it makes me remember a great story from back in the pre historic Internet days.
A guy worked a tech support desk, and he got a call from a very upset lady who could not get her computer to start. He said do you have the mouse connected to the keyboard, she said she didn't have one. Since she was in such a hurry, he walked her through the keystrokes needed - since this was a window's machine it must have been difficult. After they finally got her up and running, he closed the session by asking if she had any other questions - all she said is "yes, what the heck do I do with this foot peddle?". She must have done a lot of sewing.
Geary on a side note, how do you get your computer to shoot the picture of the window? I have never figured that out.

Hi Elizabeth,
It's in the "Grab" feature of Mac OSX. I have it down in the dock. It's the icon that looks like a pair of scissors and a page. Click on it....go up to "capture".....where you can choose "window" or "selection" If you choose selection.....drag the pointer around the part you want..... and release. Then you can save it as....anything or anywhere.

 Geary!
Thank you... I will love knowing this feature.
See what happens when you don't take the time to read the "fun stuff" with each upgrade.
Now my desktop will be an even bigger mess!

For those who didn't know, I tracked the Grab feature down under X Applications - Utilities. Looks very handy. Thanks!
