Untitled 20x30

20x30" oil on ABS - the photo as usual isn't exactly right, but the close-up looks fine to me, I think.

I like the title "Inclined to Anticipate" - but the spouse thinks I am getting too wordy. So - for now it is unnamed. Suggestions?

Edit: The photos are out of order - just trying to get one up that looks closest to the painting.

My Goodness, Kim
This is beautiful. Her expression is very introspective, I can really feel her mood and your fleshtones are beautiful. And the way you captured the light coming through the curtains and falling on the sill and on the model, it's as if the viewer can see the fall air! I bet this is breathtaking in person.

I just LOVE each one of your pieces!!!

Have a great weekend!

This is really beautiful Kim! I love the way you handled all the soft transitions in her face.

Kim, this is a terrific painting. Look at those soft edges you managed to get on ABS...

It's getting really hard to keep up with you!

By the way, I ran across one of your paintings from a year or so ago. Do you realize how fast you're changing artistically?

Thanks Linda! I didnt really paint this one as fast as it looks - I had three going at once and two finished up close to each other. I think I started this one a month ago or so.

Yeah, I guess I am changing fast. I keep walking by that stupid pregnant woman I painted a year ago and shuddering. That was the first one I did after quitting flash photography. What ever possessed me to paint that? And so big too - I go around the corner in the hallway and BOOM! there she is sticking that belly out at me. I'm afraid it is going to be contagious or something. That was one of those "I thought this was a good idea at the time..." things. Now - who in world is ever going to buy that? Especially since I wont show it publicly anymore.

I improved for the 15 years I was a professional, but very very slowly. Once I got online and found this forum (and others) I feel like I discovered a goldmine. Seriously though - I was completely ignorant to what good painting looked like. I would see art magazines, but the texture wasnt apparent and that makes a difference in seeing how it is done. This has been a tremendous resource and I am very grateful for it.

Hooray to all of you and Cynthia! Now - who wants to buy a painting of a big pregnant lady?

you do beautiful work

I was curious about the painting of the pregnant lady you described as being virtually unsaleable. I found it on your web site and it is very nice. I can see that your work has progressed but that painting ain't too shabby. Not nearly as bad as you seem to think it is! It occurred to me though that this may be a wonderful candidate for a charity auction. Something related to pregnant women or families. You should definitely continue to display it.
