I recently have been thinking of how to get my artwork out in the public eye. I don't have money for advertising. Luckily, I am friends with a former co-worker that is now the sales manager at the manufactured housing place in town. (Just to clarify, I don't mean mobile homes, I mean the prefabricated homes.) They also have started selling condos. Anyway, to get to my point. I stopped by to see him real quick today. I asked him if it would be possible to use my artwork in their model homes. He was very excited by the possibility, (as am I!!

) and told me to contact him again later about it (he came out of a meeting to see me at the time).
Every summer the area has a Parade of Homes, where the public can buy tickets and tour some of the new homes in the area. A lot of area merchants advertise their services (plumbing, contracting, furniture, design, etc). So I thought, why not me? I have high hopes for this- so far my best thought would be to hang a portrait in my mom's CPA office, which I still plan on doing.
I hope this helps out another 'starving' artist for inexpensive advertising! Contact anyone who sets up model homes/apartments/condos, etc. to see if they would be interested in displaying artwork from a local artist for free (with business cards and/or brochures available). This way, they don't have to pay for artwork to decorate the homes to show the public, and you get free advertising! Good luck to all!
