Ian & Elise

It's tough to put anything up here after Marvin's painting - I can only hope to be playing in the A league in ten years.

This is Ian & Elise - Ian is three and Elise is 11 months. I hope the colors show OK on this, I'm not too good at getting the art to represent well here sometimes.

This is 42" X 30". I studied Norman Rockwell a lot before starting this, I even went to his Museum in Stockbridge, MA. I like how he really plays down the shadows, and thought it was appropriate for this composition.

I hope you enjoy it.

P.S. If you have general critiques, please email them to me - this painting has gone to the client, so what feedback I get is for future learning, and not to change this painting
:-)

Oh Linda

I really like this! It put a big smile on my face, probably b/c I can identify with the ages...I have two the same. Great job, I'm sure the clients are thrilled!

Hi Linda,

Congratulations on a lovely painting! I especially like the high-key, fresh colors, they work so well on children.

Thanks Mary, Linda and Jeff,

I think one of the most rewarding things about getting a commission right now is how much I learn through each one. An unfortunate way to improve, but at 40 with a family, the one way that works. I can see it will take years and years to pull it all the learning together.

Linda,

It has a wonderful fresh look to it, and I like the little portrait on the table. Like Linda B. says, the tone is much befitting young children.

So lovely! It's inspiring me to use a color scheme like this for one of my upcoming paintings.
