Mark,
Like the color of the first photo. Hope that is close to the real color. Nice flow! This reminds me of Pino's work who is not a bad artist to follow in the brushstrokes of a painterly style.

Mark,
What a thoughtfully composed portrait. I really like the way the colors interact. For instance, the darker, richer note of the wall and the wood on the chair against the pale, delicate colors of the dress and skin. Nice composition, too.

Hi Mark, I like the loose romantic flow of this painting and your beautiful, lush colors. I really like it when an artist seems to have had fun painting a portrait and I see lots of signs of that in this work - nice job!

This is a beautiful and fluidly painted picture. Gorgeous paint quality.
What I am most impressed with is your deft handling of the foreshortening, a real killer to do well.

Hi Mark,
Nicely done. I find it interesting how there is a repeat of the "S" curve throughout the composition. It makes the static pose of a seated figure, become much more engaging.
The color choices are also very rich. I love to hear what colors you used for the dress.

I really like the composition and the energy flowing around her face and shoulders. The painterly quality is so pretty and matches her femininity.

Thanks so much Chris. I learned alot from the great book that you wrote so maybe it rubbed off a little in my work. I hope so anyway.

Thanks for pointing that out Enzie. I agree that it is much more interesting and enjoyable painting a figure that has some movement in it, and it can be a challenge getting a natural pose with these attributes. I believe that for the dress I used some combination of yellow ochre, cadmium yellow medium and trans oxide brown. Thanks for asking.

Sharon I really appreciate your kind words! I will try to avoid having to paint a forshortened hand/arm in the future. I really didnt notice it until I got knee deep in it and started to wonder why it was causing me trouble. Thanks for pointing that out.
