Tale of Grace That's All Her Own

My granddaughter was born a year ago, ten weeks premature. We almost lost her when she ws seven days old so our priest came and baptised her. After the ceremony he said, "Taylor Grace, welcome to our Church". And my tiniest angel opened her eyes and looked out at her family...wisdom and depth in her eyes like you've never seen! I could not wait to complete this drawing of her and to share it with you all. The image is a little blurry, sorry! Size is 4 x 6.
I will be presenting it to my son, Kevin and Abbey tommor at Taylor's birthday party - I can't wait!!!

Thanks for looking

Pat, this is a lovely drawing of a beautiful child. You've captured the wisdom and wonder in her eyes. I'll bet she will be talented like you. There's got to be something special in store for her.

Alex

OK Pat, what gives? Your avatar says you are too young to have a granddaughter! In any case what a precious expression you captured. I prognosticate that it will become a family treasure.

Dear Pat,

I certainly agree with Alex. This humble simple portrait is exquisitly poetic, and exalting of your very precious granddaughter. Congratulations!

Garth

Patricia, you have caught the peculiar perspecive of a newborn's features as well as that odd, unfocussed gaze of, yes, wisdom. I remember it like yesterday. It was like being part of something huge, just to see it, Remember it like yesterday. Great work. Janet

Alexandra, Richard, Garth, Janet,
Thank you for your kind remarks. This is by far my favorite drawing thus far in my "career". To be able to capture her knowing eyes was a treat! The little portrait went over extremely well at the party last night. Kevin and Abbey both got very teary eyed and they just love it, of course then I teared up ... ah it is common on my family.

Richard, you are so kind, and yes I am WAY too young to be a grandmother Actually the beauty of having your children at a young age is that you get to be a healthy grandmother. My oldest son is expecting their first, they know it is a girl and her name is . . .

Alexandra!!!

Thanks Alexandra for your warm remark, I do think she is going to delight us alll over the years. She already had a large basket with art supplies building in the corner of my studio!

Garth glad you like the simplicity, I knew this would be small and a study of her facial mask only, to intensify the emotional reaction of the viewer.

Janet, yes, it sems like yesterday my boys were this young. Life goes by so fast. Makes it all the more precious.

Pat, I love this! I love those baby eyes, and that baby mouth! Your family will treasure this.
