This is beautiful - just lovely!
I have a theory - IF her eyes are off a bit it is because she is a mother and one eye is on the child...the other on her husband. ;) |
Thanks everyone for the kind words.
Jim, I meant it started off as a quick sketch. I put a couple more hours into after I think. And yes, it is my first child. Hopefully I can do some work when she goes for naps. :) |
Hi Josef,
You have a really original portrait. I like your unusual point of view. Garth |
Thanks Garth. I found the pose to be the classical "looking up to the heavens" kind of pose but then again the "leaky roof " kind of pose. :D hehe

Hi Josef -- don't know how I missed this last Spring. Beautifully done!

This is really beautiful work, Josef. Yes the only thing that struck me as "out of tune" was the subject's left eye. It seems to me that the problem is that it's a bit dark in relation to the right eye, so that it looks clouded over. Perhaps if you lift it in value some. Otherwise, splendid.

Thanks Terri and John. I fixed the left eye but I forgot to post it. I will have to dig it somewhere in my pc.

Here is the retouched version. It is still a bit off. It really tough doing the fine details or adjustments in charcoal. Does anyone have any tricks aside from very sharp point and a lot of patient? Love to hear some if you have...
