"Calvin"
This head detail is part of a recent head and shoulders painting that will undergo some background changes while the frame is being completed. I also had problems with light reflections from that same background and his dark suit and will have to reshoot.
I shared this detail with an artist friend who wanted some help with the handling of wrinkles on seniors. My portfolio includes examples of this condition and I usually probe the subject's sensitivity to this question.
I also like dramatic lighting and the challenges of the dramatic lights on what is otherwise the shadow side of the face.

Wow Jim,
I love the masterful interpretation of the wrinkles and handling of the hair. All the praise is well deserved. Please share the rest of this as soon as you can.

Jim! Just last night I was looking at your website and wondering why you hadn't posted anything in a while. How nice to wake up to this. It is fantastic as usual, I can't wait to see the whole piece.

Strongly painted Jim. What an exceptional job of keeping the marvelous twinkle in him energetically alive in the piece. It's nice to see new work of yours here.
