Snow White

This is my "See No Evil" model and I can't help but think Mike could have done a better job at getting great photos!

I had a vague idea of using this first costume (which makes me think of Snow White) and getting her in the local library reading the book Snow White. They didn't have the book...unbelievable! The library used to be an old western jail - so it's interesting.

Anyway - here are a few photos I like and may want to paint one in the future. Of course the ones I like look more like portraits than figuratives.

I sure am going to miss my models when I move. This one is another 13-year-old who is far too pretty for her age! I really like the third one down, but it seems more like a portrait...could it sell as a figurative?

Kim,

If you're referring to the same Mike character that my daughter knows, I can assure you that he has screwed up more of these sessions than you can possibly imagine.

The last three look like portraits to me. Technically, my favorite is the second one. I think this is a fine image. I like the background a lot and I like the pose and lighting very much. Although technically it works on many levels, I'm having a little trouble connecting all the theme dots.

I especially like the El Producto cigar box. My father loved to smoke an El Producto "favarita" while playing dominos or bridge. I wish I had been able to catch an image of him. We didn't have enough time, he was 48 when I was born!

The last two are definately intimate portrait types. I would think that they would be a risky venture trying to sell to a stranger, not that it couldn't happen. With your immense, and burgeoning talent, you could make a convincing painting from any of these. Although the first is a little dark.

Thanks Mike. Yeah - your right, there is no clear theme or idea here for a figurative. I was caught off-guard. I have a closet full of costumes I started collecting this winter, a whole stable of pretty models, and a lot of ideas, but I didnt plan for this one. The girls (who are busy with activities) have been instructed to call me whenever they have a few extra hours. This one did, and my ideas weren't thought out well enough yet. I know I am moving soon and will lose these models, so I need to sit down and really solidify my ideas and the locations of the shoots.

I love that 2nd one also - but it makes no sense really!

Great eyes you have to catch that little box. Only in Texas would a public library full of kids have old cigar boxes on display!
