Alkyds, Boards, mediums

Virgil,

Hello from the new boy on the site! I'm currently studying art, and have a couple of questions.

1) What do you think of alkyd mediums for oil painting? Some seem to think delamination is a problem.

2) My stand oil/damar mixture seems slower drying than expected- I'm experimenting after having used only alkyd mediums.

3) Is mdf board OK as a support? Masonite? Sealing with acrylic binder before priming? Any help appreciated!

Peter
