Hi Linda,
I must say, I did think it a little strange that day I saw you and Chris run off to the bathroom together with camera in hand. But then once I saw your setup, it all made sense.
Your paintings just keep getting better and better. This certainly isn't a typical portrait background, but helps make this lovely portrait even more interesting and unique.

This is the painting which will receive a Merit Award at the PSOA in May. I've since retitled it to "Claire at Eighteen". Thanks again to all you nice artists who said kind things about it, your encouragement means a lot to me.
And by the way I'm finally remembering to post a closeup of the hands:

Such a bold composition, Linda; I am not surprised at your award! There is such a rich counterpoint between Claire and the wallpaper. Having met your subject, I can verify how well you have caught her. Remember, based on this painting, I spotted Claire from a block away even before you did (having never met her before)!
Can't wait to see this (and you) in D.C.

My connection has been down for a few days with our move...
Congratulations, Linda! It's a great painting.

Dear Linda, Kim, Garth, Teri, Tom, Michele and David,
Thank you so much for saying these kind words! I'm also looking forward to meeting folks in May. I hope I can get my swollen head through the hatch to board the plane to Washington. But this painting won't be there - as I understand it, only the Finalists are exhibited; the Merit Awards and the Certifcates of Recognition are shown via slide.
