An anti-virus lesson learned

I have Norton Anti-Virus. Over the last year I had tried several times to click on the Quarantine report where any viruses found are put for safety. However, whenever I clicked on the link, the report would never come up. I wanted to go in to delete them an free up space.

Then, recently I tried again and it still didn't work, so I gave up once again. Then, almost two hours later it came up and was I shocked. There were over 31,000 files in it to the tune of about 1.5 gig of space...yes, 1.5! It took the better part of a day to delete all those files.

I'm so glad I discovered that because I kept having to search for files to delete because I was running out of room on my hard drive. Now I've bought myself quite a bit of time before I have to invest in a new hard drive.

I thought perhaps I should try this but then I thought that a removable hard drive would be cheaper than a day's worth of time to find and delete quarantined files. I understand storage is very cheap nowadays.

Well, you may not have a lot. And, you don't have to find them. They are all in one place. It's just that if I select 31,000 files to delete all at once, it chokes my system and I assume it would anyone elses too. I just happen to like all my files on one hard drive.
