... I ended up not getting paid for. Well, not monetarily. I had done a sketch of a friend's child. She called me and said a co-worker wanted me to do one of a neighbor's child.
They brought me pictures and then told me the child had died. I cried the whole time I did it. I told them I couldn't charge for that. The next day I had a stepping stone wrapped up on my porch from them that said "the greatest gift is a gift of thyself".
That is what got me started.
