Instructional DVDs

I've noticed (much to my chagrin) that there are virtually no Art Instruction videos available in the DVD format. Seems to me that VHS is rapidly going the way of the 8-track tape. Why are artist still releasing new instruction videos on VHS cassette? Are DVDs more expensive to make? I'm mystified.

I have become quite spoiled by the DVD format. Our old video cassette recorder is somewhere in the attic. I have been quite tempted to buy recently released instruction videos by artists whom I admire, however, I just am not willing to revert back to VHS. Can anyone shed any light on this?
