For starters, you didn't disappoint me. I cannot think of a better way to learn something than to do it wrong...and then have to spend the time to do it over (and maybe over) again until you get it right. "Needless suffering" is a lesson most of us seldom forget.

Sometimes you have to "prove" methods to yourself and not take some "expert's" word for it. You can certainly experiment and try the glazes over what you have and see what happens.

Or, start all over again with a less contrasty underpainting and see/compare how the glazes go over that.
