Kim,
Will this inspire another version of your hit figurative painting? What fun!
Thanks!
Claudemir, Thank you too!

Dear Julie,
Thanks! The other portraits are like grown children out of the house. I don't hear from them very often, and I am still looking for the courtroom address of one! Time for a visit.

I appreciate so much your posting the details and discussing the hurdles. I've got a judge commission coming up and it will help immensely to have see this.
The head detail is beautiful and instructive. I've been struggling tremendously the last couple of years over skin tones and still am very dissatisfied. For some reason, this work really speaks to some of the things I'm wrestling with.
Thanks for your generosity of spirit in sharing your approach.

Thanks Tom!
In truth, I applied some things I learned fro you on this Forum, in this portrait. Like maintaining a consistent warm/cool plan for the highlights and shadows accross the canvas.
Please share your work in progress with me if you wish. I would enjoy seeing it.
Best to you too,
Garth

Between you and Alexandra, you must be literally covering the walls of Philadelphia's municipal buildings.

Dear Sharon,
I never feel your masterpieces are ever over noodled, they are always satifying, chromatically balanced, and inspiring.
Alex and I still have a lot of walls to cover in Philadelphia. There are still many potential portraits. I have to wait until August to really get started on the next one for this District Courthouse. Finally, a Judge who is very much still alive, although presently on vacation.

Thanks Jean, I am flattered! I pick things up from you too. Have you any Philadelphia relatives? There was even a certain Grace Kelly present at the reception, although I think she was not the same person as her Philadelphia namesake who married His Serene Highness Prince Rainier III of Monaco some years back.

Hi Garth,
I'm not really a "Kelly", I married the name. First husband was all Irish but I don't have a drop in me. My maiden name was Seymour and there may be some in that area, but I'm unaware of them. I've done more research on my mother's side (Scandinavia), and have chosen to disinherit my English ancestry. But in researching the Sandinavian side I discovered that the Seymours came from northern France, which was populated by Viking explorers. So even the English side is Scandinavian!

My hope is to be able to execute a portrait with this degree of professionalism. Thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks Dan!
I'd say go for it! The desire of professionalism is most the inspiration one needs.
Hopefully however, a prospective portrait subject, will be alive and well. It's generally tough doing posthumous portraits.
Al the best,
Garth
