Towana

2-3 hours worth of 20 minute sits at our little workshop in Sacramento. After wasting two of my 20 minutes "sits" redrawing and redrawing I was able to sculpt out this radiant black gal's colors and shapes. I think it is pretty close. I failed to take a camera for the shot of the model.

Thanks!

Okay, I've shared. I'm done for a while.
Now you!

Redrawing is never wasted time.

I usually go through at least one, and often two of the 20-minutes sittings doing nothing but placing little hatchmarks on my surface. Once things are in the right place, the rest goes much faster and more smoothly

Thanks Chris!

I went to Friday's open studio because of your encouragement to paint more from life. Yeah!

What I should have said is that I was not careful or very observant in my initial lay-in and marking of the features so I had to do it over again. When I started laying down the color I was confronted with my poor initial drawing. I know it's never a waste, I just get frustrated with myself because I need to start over due to my carelessness and rushing my drawings.

Here's to decaf!

As I was taught by John Murray and tell my students, "Drawing goes on all the time."
