Hello everyone

Greeting to all the Forum members, I'm the new kid on the block. Just wanted to introduce myself to you all.

I've been painting and drawing seriously for about 2 1/2 years now, after playing & dabbling with it for most of my life. I aspire to become full-time eventually, possibly within the next two years, although perhaps I shouldn't put that kind of pressure on myself. Or should I?...

I look forward to interacting with all the great artists on this site, and obtaining useful information on improving my work. I've already learned a ton by browsing through the Forum for the past couple of months. I'll post an image for critique as soon as I can. In the meantime, you can see some of my stuff at
http://www.richardhuante.com.

Nice to meet everybody, thanks for having me!

Thanks, Chris. Hope to interact with you & the others soon.

I unsuccessfully tried to attach my photo with my name. Maybe the image was too frightening?

Thanks, Richard. Do you work mostly with pastels? Very nice pastel works.

Josef, thanks, yes I would say 75% of my work is in pastel. I belong to a local art group, the Arizona Pastel Artists Association. I do love working in oils too, but when my group exhibits, our paintings have to be in pastel. So I spend most of my artwork time on that medium. I don't remember if I saw any pastels on your site. Do you use them?

I have one on my site. The rest are out there somewhere. I use to do a lot of portraits in pastels. It is a cheaper alternative for the client in color than oils.

Hello Richard,

I find extremely interesting the ambiance of each of your paintings, somehow in my opinion, may be reflecting your personality. What is interesting that each work is linked by its light or character to an other one, forming thus a kind of style.

Sergio,

Thank you for your comments. Although I've never really thought of myself having a particular "style", I am influenced highly by the paintings of my favorite artist, Leslie B. DeMille. He is a great pastel, oil, & bronze artist located in Sedona, Az. You can see his work at http://www.lesliebdemille.com/. Although I have a long way to go to achieve his level of skill, I guess I do try to emulate his painting technique.

Thanks again for your response,
