To live a New life

Charcoal 23x30cm on gray paper

This young lady is the daughter of a couple that live near by. We met a few months ago and soon became friends. Once a wk we, a small group, get together and do Bible study. Well, this sabbath, their daughter, the girl in the photo is being baptized. The daughter is an aspiring artist.

Ah! Mischa,
nice volume!
I love the hair ( soft and form, that's it?)
It's a beautiful present, she will certainly love it, and who knows...maybe it will be an inspiration for her.

Thank you Bonfim and Marina appreciate you taking the time and coment.

I did a bit more with the hair after I posted. I lost the three curlicue's in the hair and gave it body and then puled out some highlights.

Mischa,

This turned out so beautifully. I love the way you pushed the darks. There is so much suggestion and mystery in them. I am sure the girl and her family will love this gift.

This is lovely. Was the photograph of the drawing taken at an angle?

Thank you all. I must admit this was done on the fly as the saying goes.

Bonfim, thank you! Yes, this is a special time for the family and I am sure for the girl as well. I thought the gift will be a good reminder of her decision and the importance.

Marina, thank you! When I look at the drawing there is a definite sense of volume and depth. It is my bad photography that does not give the total extent. Sorry.

Alex, thank you! I thought to push the darks more but am pressed for time. I hate leaving a drawing unfinished.

Kim, it was taken at an angle, in bad lighting and from close-up. I must work on my photography. The drawing it self is fine even though the photo of the drawing suggests distortion.
