Bellini, Giovoni Study

I just started playing with a sketch that was going bad in graphite, so I decided to play with charcoal and had some success!! Now I know there are things wrong and not sure it is worth finishing. But I would like a critique as I am at a loss for looking at it so long. I know the eyes were off and I redid them twice. What else can you point out

Thanks
Pat Joyce

I completed the Bellini study last night (about 2am - what is it about the desire to draw arising like the Phoenix in the middle of the night??!) By the time I got to the headpiece I was ready to quit. I saw this morning that I should have waited until another day. But I feel good about completing this study. It was very exciting to work with charcoal, in may ways easier than graphite and more gratifying because of the ability to reach the darkest darks, at least to my satisfaction. The neck looks funny in this pic, may re-address that just for my own sake. I also see, now that it is up on my screen, that I still have not carved out that check/jaw on our left and darn it that eye on our left is too small - wonder if I can adjust it? I think I brought the wing of his nose on our left out too much, need to push it back. That I think I can do.

Thanks for you help Stephen, as always your input changed how I looked at it, enabling me to make necessary corrections.

My next project? A portrait of my boyfriend, WITH HIS EYES OPEN!! May post the beginnings of that, in the drawing critique, to get help along the way!!
