This is another portrait of my daughter. Please critique, especially on color and values. Thanks.

Nice work

Hi,

I love the look on her face -- deep in thought, soulful. One can see both pessimism and optimism in there.

It strikes me that there are a lot of other bright spots that are distracting from the focus, which is that look. So I just played around here on Photoshop, adjusting the tones down on the secondary info.

I also changed the format of the composition, for two reasons: 1) To de-emphasize those verticals made by the arms and the hair (the arms were smack down the center of the space), and 2) As a visual metaphor, all that dark to the right represents the sorrow in her face, but placing her compositionally to the left and on the side of the light, she is seemingly more positive, as if she is "going to the light" (or clinging to it).

Hope this is good food for thought,
Linda

Thanks

Thanks Linda for your observation...sorry it took so long to respond. I like what you did...she does look like she is drawn to the light. Thanks, Mark Gil
