I've posted before about my bedroom closet turned FX box. Well, here is my next trick. I'm doing a portrait grabbed off of a sepia group shot. So I've had to really get creative. I wanted a dark velvet drape in the background.

I've taken an expandable shower curtain rod and hung a pair of $4 Good Will cotton tab top drapes on them. Wedged into my closet door jam, they can now be hung straight, swagged or pulled aside completely.

Next I went to JoAnne fabrics and picked up a 2-yard piece of the fabric I wanted. Total cost to this starving artist. $5.00. I've straight pinned it to the drape and arranged in the way to suit my portrait scene. I can now "see" the way this fabric plays with light and it's working just great.

All I need now is a mannequin

Thank you Cynthia, that is a wonderful mannequin. The finger movement and the toes are great too. I wonder though, if anyone knows where they sell used department store mannequins? I am looking for toddler sizes.
