Ballpoint Pen Other samples




These are much older than previous posts. They were done between 95-97, all three are in blue papermate med pt ballpoint pen on envelopes I mailed to family members.

So nice! Too bad they were not preserved on a more permanent paper. Sometimes your best work is done when you are not planning it.

I like that you've drawn these on the envelopes. Charles M. Russell was well known for this and the tradition seems to have faded a bit. I think that it adds a more personal touch to it when you took that much time to decorate the envelope no less.

I almost forgot to add that I admire the fact that you've used ballpoint pen as your primary medium here. I love drawing with ball point pens and I admire anyone who takes the time to do more then simple sketches with them. Ballpoint pens are fairly inexpensive but really have a nice quality to them as far as drawing goes. You can control how light or dark the lines are by pressure alone and also create effects that you wouldn't expect from such a mundane writing tool.

Thanks for your comments; I started drawing with ballpoint about ten years ago, my senior year in high school. The first subject was John Wayne, 24" x 36" on poster board, which now resides in the home of my grandparents. I
