Boston
I am traveling to Boston on Friday, 11th October for seven days on business. For the weekend of 12/13th, it would be great to visit at least one exhibition, gallery or museum.
Is anybody aware of any "must see" portraits, paintings, exhibitions or galleries? I would appreciate any info as I live in the UK. As you no doubt understand I may not have this opportunity again so I would like to make the most of it. I will be in Boston itself for the weekend and a town called Littleton during the week.
Many thanks in advance.
Kevin.

I just checked the web site for the Boston Museum of Fine Art and searched on portraits. They have at least 3 Sargents there. Two of them are "Mrs. Fiske Warren and Her Daughter Rachel" (see below) and "The Daughters of Edward Darley Boit."
There's some Cassatt's, a couple of Copley's and more. Ohhhh, Paxton's "The New Necklace" is there!! I don't know if this is their full collection online or not.
Here's the link for the portrait search: http://www.mfa.org/handbook/search/r...ThemePortraits

Kevin,
Check with Sharon Knettell, whom I believe has work up in Boston, and is familiar with the area! http://www.portraitartist.com/knettell/

Kevin,
I think you've already been emailing this information to Sharon, but for others who are interested, see this exhibition in Boston:

Tim
After lunch I needed a nap! I put on 9lbs in 7 days. But boy was I happy.
I did have a good "waddle" around but unfortunately I only got my bearings and found Newbury Street on Sunday. Most galleries were closed but I did have a look 'round those that were open. It brought back the importance of looking at work up close and personal.
I will be back in Boston in about six months and intend to visit on a Saturday to make the most of the experience.
Thanks for all the help. I really enjoyed myself and can't wait for my next trip, in the UK or abroad.
Kevin.
