Beginning on June 21, 2005 and continuing through July 8, the Online Artists Guild will present a collection of their contemporary, realist paintings at the Venezuelan Gallery, 7 East 51st Street, New York NY 10022.
The Guild is unique among professional artists' associations. Unlike many other artist groups, the OAG is an Internet-based coalition of representational painters who collaborate professionally. Beginning in 2003 with ten founders, OAG has brought together painters and other artists from throughout the United States and indeed from throughout the world. Through the Guild, members show and discuss paintings in progress, develop and share technical information on top-quality materials and methods, and increase their sense of community despite being separated by thousands of miles.
The Venezuelan Gallery is open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and is located at the Consulate of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, 7 East 51st Street, New York, NY 10022. Please join us for the opening reception, Thursday, June 23, 2005, 6:30-8 p.m.
The OAG website functions as a surrogate for the kind of group studios that were once the norm for many artists. Drop in to
Online Artists Guild any time, and you're likely to find members and guests browsing through demonstrations of technique, ratings of various artists' materials, or simply trading viewpoints on art, ideas, or life. "It's like a dinner among friends," is how one member describes it--the kind of place where an artist can feel at home.
