Tim,

This is precious. The painting too. : )

I keep coming back to this. I really like how you managed to capture that mesmerizing stare that we all get when we look at a flame. Michele Rushworth also painted a beautiful portrait of (I believe) her daughter in candle light. I love it. I tried to pose my three year old son with a single burning candle but he kept blowing it out and telling me " I'm three years old" as if I couldn't count.

If you used a reference photo, could you explain how you managed to get it? I have a pretty good camera but my low lit images of my 3yr old aren't that clear. He moves.

PS) Your daughter is beautiful.

Funny!

That is a funny story, for those of us that are parents it rings true.

The catch light in these are often on the lower parts of the eye which is very theatric and are sometimes a pure lemon yellow-all of which makes them fun to paint. Here's a new one. The jpeg is not real great.

Hi Tim - great to see you posting again. I really like these but especially the 2nd. You're a master at backgrounds and clothes! Thanks again for that great class this past summer in IN. My daughter & I look forward to enrolling again.
