Julie and Misha,
Thank you both! I have considered having it at my house, but I wanted to test the waters first. The key to the success of these shows is, beside the right timing, foremost the professionalism of the participants, the quality of what they sell has to be outstanding and preferably the vendors have to have an existing clientele, who is affluent enough and willing to shop in less traditional places.
The advertising reminds the existing clients to come and serves to spread the word in the community. I live in an area where a lot of people have horses and I was absolutely delighted when someone recognized my work.
On the painting of Ariana, which is a WIP on my web site, I dragged easel and all to the stables and was looking for a horse model. Besides all the people who stopped to watch me work, this one lady walked up to me and said: "Aren't you the artist who painted so and so's daughter?" This was a great feeling, someone actually was able to put two and two together and not only remember my painting, but also recognized my style and therefore me. My grin was the length of the Montana sky line!
