Julie, yes I agree that the composition was arranged well. I love how the vine pattern surrounds her head. It is subtle but keeps the eye looking at her face.
I have noticed a substantial improvement in your work on this one and your work was so nice before. Your skin tones are lovely. I find them to be softer or something. Maybe its just this particular young woman who is gentle looking. The way the light appears to be coming from the left behind the glass really adds to the mood and sets your subject off as it darkens in value on our right. I think you have done an excellent job rendering the stained glass. Finally, I do like that right hand! I can see you have picked up much of that reflected color surrounding her.
I really could go on about how obvious it is that you have worked hard on this and the tremendous strides you have made. Each one of your paintings is miles better than the one before it. You are putting lots of love and effort into your work and are obviously dedicated. It sure is paying off. I wish you the very best in your competition!
