A quick critique to your drawings. The first thing that (doesn't) jumps out is the lack of value range in these portraits, particularly the one of the girl. Squint your eyes, and you will see very little contrast and/or tonal range. I think deepening your values will improve your work dramatically. Also, check the hand on your grandfather's portrait; it appears too small. Hope these tips help.
