To me the downside to this design is if you're selling portraits, it doesn't show the kind of portrait that most people would commission. That is, something clearly showing the face. I don't know that I've seen your work, but if the image used on this card is also not generally representative of your work, that's also a downside.
Portfolio Building 101, people generally won't buy what they can't see. I think this applies to the one shot opportunity of a business card...you want it to be representative of your work if you're going to use a portrait image and you want it as much as possible to show your ability to capture a face.
