Dan Gerhartz slide lecture

I've typed this twice now and its disappeared because it told me the photo was too large (it wasn't!) - so if this is short of info just email me for more later.

I heard a slide lecture by Dan Gerhartz today in San Antonio, plus saw some of his work.

I was not a huge fan before this because to me it seemed (online) that his work was so impressionistic.

I'm a fan now. In person the work has a depth that I was impressed with. It is loose, but if you are even 3 feet away the features/figures are crystal clear. It looks washed out to me online compared to in person.

His lecture showed some great close up slides of JSS and Fechin. He spoke about skin and the subtle shifts not in value, but in temperature that help create the form.
