Many famous fine artists had been porcelain artists first. Pierre Auguste Renoir being the most notable. He was trained in it and worked at a factory for years before oils. I think that it shows in his later oils in his handling of the flesh with "fluid transparencies". Franz Bischoff, another notable porcelain artist who later moved to California and painted oils brilliantly was titled "The King of Roses". I really have never seen anyone paint roses better than Bischoff in oils and also he never gave up his love for porcelain painting. His porcelains are unbelievable!
These Aulich plates recently sold on ebay for 4 of them were around $6665 to one man and another person bought the other two for around $4350.
Joyce Pike recently has begun painting on porcelain and already overtaken it with a thunder. She has been published several times in our International magazine. (
