Down to Earth
Informed choices, I believe, are the gateway to genius. The academic training that the great master painters of the past were fortunate to have garnered, made it possible for them to raise above their mortal selves.
In my experience, by knowing the truths about the visual world around us we are able to transcend the dictums of stylistic contrivance and dogmatic rhetoric. Some call it being in the zone. Whatever achievements I may accomplish or honors I receive, the true joy I experience remains a function of allowing my paintings to happen in a place where ego is irrelevant.
Don't worry though, by having little tolerance for ignorance and even less for idiotic adherence to misinformed suppositions I remain steadfastly tethered to Planet Earth.
Yes I had a very good day painting today.
