The portraits start at $9.95! I wonder how in the heck anybody can make a living doing that?

Not too many years ago I was thinking seriously about buying those large "oil paintings", framed, from the mall galleries - just for the frames. I thought the frames with the paintings were cheaper than I could buy just the frame.

I would guess that they transfer the image to black and white, add some pencil marks and email that. Image transfering is used by some artists who just add some brush strokes and charge a low fee.

Look at the names of the artists. This could be a case of exploiting artists from low income countries. They pay the artists pennies for their work and the company takes the profit. At such low prices, imagine what they pay the artist! I've seen it from over the border in Mexico, too. What a shame if true.
