I wanted to paint a painting of someone in direct sunlight .I also was trying to keep my edges softer , I hope i accomplished this. Any comments is greatly appreciated.

Hi Joseph,

I think you accomplished your goals admirably. She definitely seems to be squinting in sunlight and the edges are soft. The background is a little puzzling to me as I would expect to see an outdoor scene or shrubbery rather than solid black, so I am left wondering about that.

Thanks Laurel for your comments. As for the background , I was mainly concerned with the values and temperatures in the light and shadows of the figure. I do agree with you if this painting was to be a finished painting it would definitely need something to establish the fact that she is outdoors.
