Austin

This was the hardest commission I've done. The little boy passed away in a tragic accident, along with his friend and his friend's mother. As such, I couldn't take my own photo; I had to invent a background that was close to the field where he used to ride his motorcycle; and I had to create different lighting than the photo. The pressure was high to do a great job--as for all posthumous portraits--but I felt a particularly great responsibility on this one. I went tighter than I like to because I was so worried about getting it just right. I'm still waiting for a reply from Mom, but I hope she likes it:
Austin 24x36: (PS the photo isn't the best because my DSLR just pooped out. This is from my less-than-stellar point and shoot) |
What a well painted and sweet face, congratulations!

I wish all posthumous portraits could be this successful! Great work!

Thank you Patty and Julie! Mom just replied and loves it (whew)

Natalie, you've done a noble job on this extremely difficult post-humous commission of "Austin". He will forever live in your magical landscape that works so well with his portrait. He seems so alive and connected in his gaze, I never would have guessed the tragedy.

That's really challenging... great job!

Natalie,
You've handled the composition and lighting and setting so well, they seem effortless. Over and above all the technical considerations,.there is a beautiful feeling in this. |
